St. Anthony Guild

Founding Member of the Mt. St. Peter Legacy Society

Mission

The Saint Anthony Guild is an organization of women whose mission is to serve the poor and disadvantaged of the community while enjoying good fellowship and renewal in their work.

Spiritual Enrichment and Fellowship

History

In 1939, Monsignor Fusco and 33 women of the parish began the St. Anthony Guild. Members volunteered their time and talents to address the special needs of the parish and offered support to the St. Anthony Orphanage in Oakmont.

Meetings

Monthly meetings are conducted on the third Tuesday of September, October, November, February, March/April and May. Meetings offer members an opportunity to plan and discuss projects, pray and gather in community.

Fellowship

Our Advent and Lenten Masses and Brunches, summer picnic, and biannual Celebration of Women provide additional opportunities to worship, pray, share a meal and celebrate women who serve Mt St Peter Parish.

Novena

St Anthony was known as the finder of lost things, miracle worker, healer and preacher. As a community, we gather to honor and pray for his intercession during a nine-week Novena beginning in April and ending near his feast day of June 13. A bread distribution, which reminds us of our service to the poor, and a reception are held on the last day of the Novena.

Spiritual Care

Members receive cards for healing, encouragement and sympathy. Masses are also scheduled for deceased members and close relatives. A prayer service is offered at the funeral home and members are encouraged to attend the funeral mass.

Service Commitment

Selected projects have been implemented which allow us to address needs in our community.  Our efforts are supported by the generous donations of our parishioners and community for which we are forever grateful and appreciative.

Tree of Angels

Over the years, hundreds of families and children have been supported by the Christmas time effort to provide clothing, coats and toys.

Holiday Baskets and Easter Bread

We support the MSP Ministry of the Sick, Homebound and Care Facilities by delivering gifts of Christmas fruit baskets and Easter bread to our many homebound and elderly parishioners.
